Lura Marie Fuessley, 94, a resident of Hiawatha Care Center, formerly of the Coggon area, died at the care center Wednesday, October 4, 2006, following a brief illness. Graveside Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Jack Kendall. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include a son, Gale of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Karen (Carl) Seltrecht of Marion; a son-in-law, David Hendryx of Alburnett; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; a son, Gary; a daughter, Rita Hendryx; a granddaughter, Teresa DeSotel; a grandson, Chad Hendryx; a great-grandson, Jared Spray; two brothers, Orie and Lelan Long; and four sisters, Neva Reece, Evelyn Dudley, Lelah Peyton and Irma Cook.
Lura Marie was born September 23, 1912, to Luther and Sarah Eastman Long in rural Coggon. She received her education from Spring Grove country school and graduated from Coggon High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. She was united in marriage to Albert Fuessley on March 7, 1932, in Galena, Illinois. Albert died in 1991. Lura Marie was a member of Silver Creek United Methodist Church.
