Luella Erdene "Erdene" Smith (Jeffries)

Luella “Erdene” Smith, 82, a resident of Winslow House in Marion, Iowa, died there Monday, March 8, 2010. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010 at United Church of Christ, Central City, Iowa, by Pastor Mark Woldruff. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City. Burial: Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Erdene was born January 28, 1928, the daughter of Elza & Blanche (Renfer) Jeffries, in Troy Mills, Iowa. She graduated from Troy Mills High School in 1946, and married Harlan Smith in May 7, 1949. Erdene was employed at Rockwell Collins until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of United Church of Christ, and the Amvets Auxillary #37 in Central City. Erdene enjoyed her children and grandchildren, birds, traveling, and Monday Club antics.
Survivors include her children, Harlene Christensen of Central City, Diana (Dan) Dye of Central City, Marion (Robin) Smith of Lees Summit, Missouri, Roxanne Smith of Central City, R.J. (Deb) Smith of Troy Mills, and Rusty (Christine) Smith of Harrisonville, Missouri; 15 grandchildren, Chris, Shelby, Tricia & Nick Christensen; Jessica Fuller, Brian Padgett, Scott & Julie Dye, Griffin, Kelly and Bailey Smith, Danielle Munson, Amanda Starr, Paige Smith, and Nicole Smith; and 16 great-grandchildren, Amber, Zachary, Mykayla, Hunter, Leah, Olivia, Blake, Allison, Mason, Logan, Taylor, Rachele, Chantele, Tanner, Drew and Aiden.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; a daughter, Rosalyn Kay; her parents; a brother, Eldon Jeffries, a sister, Sarah Louise Dudley; and 1 great-grandson, Cameron Christensen;
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Erdene’s memory.
