Lucille Rose Michael, 87, of Bakersfield, California, formerly of Walker, Iowa, died September 20, 2003, from complications of Alzheimer?s. Mass of the Resurrection: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2003, at Sacred Heart Church, Walker, Iowa, by Rev. Gabriel Anderson. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2003, Murdoch Funeral Home, Walker were a rosary will begin at 5:00. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.

Survivors include her sons, Paul and wife Joyce, Matthew and wife Barbara of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren, Dan, Rich and Ted Michael, Angie McAbee, Kelly Sullivan, and Christy Baker, all of Bakersfield, Debbie Michael of Santa Barbara, California, and Kari Fabrizio of Brownsville, Vermont; four great grandchildren, Nattalie Michael, Sara and Kimi Sullivan and Michael Baker, all of Bakersfield; brothers, Harold Kuhn of Missouri and Vernon Kuhn of Walker, Iowa; and a sister, Irene McDermott of San Jose, California.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Lucille was born August 28, 1916, and was raised on a farm near Walker. She married Leo Michael on November 19, 1935. They lived and actively farmed near Walker until 1972, when they retired. They moved to Bakersfield, California in 1993. Leo passed away in 1997. Lucille was a wonderful caring person and a devoted wife and mother. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Homes, her wonderful caregivers for the past five years, and Odyssey Healthcare for their Hospice services.
