Lucille was born on November 16, 1917, in Prairieburg, Iowa, the beloved daughter and only child of John Augustine Walker and Gertrude Margaret Power Walker. She graduated from Central City High School in 1935. Following her high school graduation she did housework for neighbors initially and then began working at the hospital in Anamosa. She subsequently worked for a shirt factory in Anamosa. She was married on August 21, 1948 to the love of her life, Eugene Marion Maxson. She began working for Collins Radio (now known as Rockwell Collins) in 1943 and after 39 years of service retired in 1982. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prairieburg, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marion. Lucille took great joy and pride in her cats, the Lawrence Welk show and her strong love of country. Almost every conversation with Lucy ended with her saying, “Red, White and Blue all the way.”
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, who died March 1, 2001 and by her precious cats: Frisky and Cricket. Lucy and Gene enjoyed many years together and have finally been reunited in the Lord. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law and father-in-law. In addition, she is preceded in death by Gene’s siblings, Lola Mae, Eva, Don, Ralph and Harold. She is survived by a brother-in-law, Bob Maxson of California; numerous Walker and Power cousins and their families; many nieces and nephews; her friends at Northbrook Manor Care; and her adopted grandchildren at Nixon Elementary, St. Pius Elementary, and the Lily Pad Daycare.
