Lucille Haughenbury, 97, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Silvercrest of Anamosa. Services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, with visitation starting at 10 am followed by the funeral at 11 am. There will be a luncheon after the service. Graveside services at 1:30 pm following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown.
Her life started in the Dakotas on April 12, 1915. Lucille Jackson grew up in the Luzerne area. Lucille married Keith Haughenbury on October 3, 1936 at the Little Brown Church, and they had one son, Don. Lucille and Keith farmed in the Marion area for over 50 years. She enjoyed being a farm wife, traveling and spending winters in Florida and summers in the Colorado Mountains. Lucille was known for her beautiful crocheting.
Lucille is survived by daughter-in-law, Deanna Haughenbury; granddaughters, Lori Haughenbury, Sindi (Mark) Melchert, Kristi Haughenbury (David Ross) and Staci (Kevin) Chada; great-grandchildren, Adam (Keely) Melchert, Malayne Melchert, Wayne Howe, Allison Wolff and Nic Snyder; sister-in-law, Marge Haughenbury; and many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; son, Don; parents, Clint and Anina Jackson; two brothers; two sisters; two sister-in-laws; and two brother-in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
