Lucille “Lucy Jo” Harger, 74, of Independence, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at East Towne Care Center, Independence. Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Lucy Jo was born February 27, 1943, in Minnesota, the daughter of Ivyle “Ike” and Maxine (Livermore) Bower. She graduated from Fairmont High School in Minnesota. Lucy Jo worked at Collins Radio until 1983. She loved music and playing the organ. Lucy Jo rode horses in her youth and had many hobbies throughout her life. She also enjoyed playing bingo and socializing with her many, many friends at East Towne.
Lucy Jo is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Victor) Farnstrom of Shellsburg, Iowa; grandchildren, Dennis (Rachel) Baugh of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Shawn (Darane) Speer of Cedar Rapids, Robert (Molly) Powers of St. Cloud, Minnesota, April (Cory) Cooper of Ames, Iowa, Derek Aberle of Ames, Ashley Krum of Manchester, Iowa, and Dalton Aberle of Manchester; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Suzette) Bower; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James A. Harger; and three brothers, Ronald, Charles, and infant Milton Bower.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank-You” to the staff at St. Croix Hospice and ABCM Rehab East Towne Care Center for the kind care they provided to Lucy Jo.
