Lucille Ava Chettinger, 72, of Aurora, Iowa, died Saturday morning, September 20, 2003, at the Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein, Iowa after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Aurora, Iowa with Pastor Dwight Webster officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa and at the church one hour before services on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, Iowa.
Lucille was born January 28, 1931 in Greeley, Iowa the daughter of Lawrence D. and Dora L. (Tracy) Moser. She attended Oneida High School. On February 24, 1949 Lucille was united in marriage to Richard Dean Chettinger, Sr. at the First Lutheran Church in Manchester, Iowa by Rev. Adix. Together they lived in the Manchester, Strawberry Point, Fairbank, and Aurora areas. Lucille was a homemaker and worked as a nurse?s aide at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. Lucille and Richard taxied the Amish around until her retirement. Richard died in 1992.
Spending time with her family is what gave Lucille happiness. She enjoyed playing bingo in Oelwein every Friday and Sunday, and helping her friend Mildred at the Country Ala Mode craft shop in Aurora.
Lucille is survived by her children and their spouses, Sharon "Sherrie? & Ron Taylor, Bonnie & Lonnie Opitz, Dorothy & Russell Holthaus, all of Aurora, Iowa; Sandy & Ron Gamm of Marion, Iowa; Shirley Chettinger of Hazelton, Iowa; Richard "Dean? Chettinger, Jr. of Lamont, Iowa; and Evelyn & Wayne Burgin of Strawberry Point, Iowa; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother and his wife, Leonard & Karen Moser of Venus, Texas; and a sister, Arlene Dighton of Rochester, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant sister Jean Ann Moser; sister Maxine Moser; brother-in-law Gladwin "Doc? Dighton; and grandson Jeremiah Burgin.
