Lucile M. Miller, age 95, of West Bloomfield, formerly of Connorsville, Indiana, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died unexpectedly March 22, 2009, at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Mrs. Miller was born March 17, 1914, in French Creek Twp., Iowa. She was raised in northeastern Iowa and attended the one room country school house and later attended Lansing Iowa High School. In 1951, she moved to Cedar Rapids. She married a local barber, Omer Miller, in 1968. She worked in the shipping department of the Dearborn Brass Plumbing Company and was a member of the mechanist union, recently receiving her 50 year membership certificate. Her husband, Omer, died in 1981, and Mrs. Miller continued to live in Cedar Rapids, in her own home and driving independently into her 90’s. Mrs. Miller also remained an active member of the VFW Cedar Rapids post. She later moved to Indiana to live with her daughter, Kay Greiner. In June of 2008, Mrs. Miller moved to West Bloomfield to live and spend time with her daughter, Karen Stecher. Mrs. Miller was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Birmingham, Michigan. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, handy work and the casinos.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her daughters, Karen Stecher of West Bloomfield and Gloria Kay (James) Greiner of Connorsville, Indiana. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michelle Bares of St. Louis, Missouri, Kara McIntyre of Chicago, Illinois and Jeffrey Bares of Collinsville, Illinois and her sister, Lorna (Irin) Anderson of San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Omer Miller and siblings, Irene Bulman, Kermit Wild, William Wild and Millard Wild.

Funeral at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Saturday 11 a.m. Friends may visit at church beginning at 10am. Visitation at Murdoch Funeral Home, 520 Wilson Ave., S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Friday 4-8pm. Interment in Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at Lutheran Church of Redeemer, 1800 W. Maple, Birmingham, Friday, April 3rd at 11a.m.
