Lucile K. Meyn, 91, of 214 24th Street NW, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, January 28, 2008, following a brief illness. Celebration of Life Services will be held at Christ Church Presbyterian at a later date. Private graveside: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy L. Meyn of Cedar Rapids; a son, Thomas L. (Kaye) Meyn of Bristol, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Tim (Barb) Palmer of Oxford, Iowa, Tom (Chris) Palmer of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Cheryl) Palmer of Eagle River, Wisconsin, Debra (Ron Stitt) Price of Midland, Texas, Tadd Meyn of Greensboro, North Carolina, Derek (Liz) Meyn of High Point, North Carolina, and Kristin Meyn of Evanston, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leslie Lawrence of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold after 63 years of marriage; her parents; a brother; and a sister.
Lucile was born October 27, 1916, the daughter of William and Gertrude (Miller) Lawrence, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A Grant High School graduate, she was united in marriage to Harold F. Meyn in Dixon, Illinois, on October 25, 1935. He died February 2, 1999. Her life was devoted to her husband and family. Lucile was a PTA President at Fillmore, Roosevelt and Jefferson Schools and the PTA Council. Previously a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church, she was currently a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian, where she was active in the Circle With a Purpose, Cruise-Aiders, Creative Ladies and Sunshine Circle. Lucile liked to fish and enjoyed crafts.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Christ Church Presbyterian, 2000 1st Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, St. Luke’s Hospice, 1026 A Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, or Camp Courageous, 12007 190th Street, Monticello, IA 52310, in memory of Lucile.
