Louise Eileen Wagner, 90, of 3614 Houston Street NE, Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 4, 2009, in her home. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, William Wagner and wife Mary of Cedar Rapids, and Kathy (Simcosky) Baker and husband, Randy of LeGrand; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia McConaughy of Tacoma, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two sisters, Bette Mayfield and Bea Scholzen; and a brother, Richard Shaffer.
Louise was born May 21, 1918, the daughter of Robert and Louise (Doyle) Shaffer, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On December 23, 1939, she married John “Johnny” Wagner. They later divorced. On October 1, 1946, she married Joseph Simcosky. On July 3, 1965, she remarried Johnny Wagner. Louise was co-owner of Joe & Lou’s Café and also had worked at Turner Microphone.
She was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church, Eagles Club and Garfield school luncheon group. Louise loved to read, gardening and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
