Louise Martha Ann Starr, 94, of Edgewood, formerly of South Dakota, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Edgewood Convalescent Home, Edgewood, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home, Manchester, Iowa with Rev. Mark Starr officiating. Family will greet friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Masonville, Iowa.
Louise was born June 20, 1915 in Waterville, Kansas, the daughter of George and Lura (Brady) Wild. They moved to Woonsocket, South Dakota where she graduated from High School in 1933. Louise was united in marriage to Elwyn Starr of Woonsocket on October 25, 1937, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Woonsocket area until 1989, when they retired to a home in Huron, South Dakota. Louise and Elwyn moved to Edgewood, Iowa in 2004.
She will be remembered as a devout Christian lady, who loved playing the piano, leading singing and teaching Sunday School. She enjoyed gardening and was well known for her cooking skills.
Louise is survived by her husband, Elwyn Starr of Edgewood; two sons, Craig (Shirley) Starr of Masonville and Norman (Barbara) Starr of Carroll; five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and a brother Jack Wild of Vinton, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lura Wild and one brother, Wayne Wild.
