Louis Francis "Louie" Heiberger
August 23, 1922 — May 7, 2008
Louis “Louie” Francis Heiberger, 85 was born August 23, 1922 to Arthur and Ona (Voelschow) Heiberger. He grew up in the Delaware county area farming with his parents, sister Irene (Heiberger) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, and Brother Howard Heiberger of Waterloo. Louie graduated, joined the US Army and started serving in Louisiana where he married his high school sweetheart Rosaline Swee while waiting to be sent to Texas then France, Germany and Austria in World War II; where he served proudly and with dignity and courage. He always loved sports. He was involved in them growing up and when he returned from war, and enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s’ sporting and school activities.
Louie and Rose raised 2 daughters. Diane Freeze (Jim) of Hopkinton and Darla Henry of Manchester.
He was proud of each one of his grandchildren: Mark Freeze (& Tracy) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Matthew Freeze of Minneapolis, MN, Nathan Freeze (& Courtney ) of Hopkinton, IA, Caleb Freeze (& Shawna) of Des Moines, IA, Jillian Smith of Seattle, WA and Amanda Smith of Seattle, WA
Louie was a 60 year member of the Delhi United Methodist Church, where he held many offices, and the American Legion Post #160. He also served on the Delhi School Board, City Council, and was a Delhi Fireman for many years. He ran his own carpentry and plastering business until retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Louie fought health issues for many years and his last week he battled them with strength and dignity, much as he lived his life. Always trying to keep family and friends reassured, and grateful they were there.

He will be truly missed.
