Louis “Louie” Ornelas Cerda, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at River of Life Church, Cedar Rapids. Burial with military honors will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. A luncheon will be served at the church immediately following burial.

Louie was born August 25, 1935, in Gonzales, Texas. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1954 - 1962. Louie married Mary Pilar Luevano in Texas on April 20, 1964. Louie worked for Mid-Iowa Grain Inspection until his retirement. Louie supported and was actively involved in the healing ministry of the body and soul in many non-denominational Christian churches in the area. He was a devoted follower of Jesus and worked diligently to bring people to faith in Christ.

He will be missed by his loving family which include his wife, Mary Cerda; daughter, Terry (Jim) Langhurst; grandchildren, Adam Polaski, Mike (Sara) Polaski, and Lucas (Maggie) Polaski; and great-grandchildren, Kendal Suchanek and Joseph, Mason, Finn, and Miles Polaski.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roy Arroyo; and eight siblings.

We are confident that he is with Jesus and has it far better than we can imagine, but we say with sorrow in our hearts, “We will miss him dearly.” 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
