Louis H. "Lou? Graves, 83, of 4730 Danbury Street N.E., Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, October 29, 2006, in St. Luke?s Hospital, following a lengthy illness. There will be private family services. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello. Arrangements with Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, LaCretia; two sons, Ric Lee (Lynette) Graves of Viola and Zachary Scott Graves of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kim (BJ) Mienke, and Dustin, Travis, Cody and Brandon Graves; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Brandon and Kaitlin Mienke.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and an infant son and daughter.
Lou was born June 23, 1923, in Monticello, to Zacharia and Lillian (White) Graves. On March 28, 1953, in Marion, he was united in marriage to LaCretia Hakes. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Lou worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone for over thirty-five years, retiring in 1982.
Lou enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially in Guttenburg with his family, where he and LaCretia owned a cabin on Esmann Island.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
