Louis V. Halliwill, 91, of Toddville, died Thursday, January 26, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Services: Noon, Monday, January 30, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Nick Longworth. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Monday, at the funeral home. Burial: 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2006, Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda (Daryl) Achenbach of Omaha, Nebraska, Kathy (Richard) Wessels of McGregor, Iowa, and Sandy (Paul) Miller of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Marci and Jenna Achenbach, Jeremy (Whitney) Wessels, Emily (Stephen) Bayton, Holly Wessels and Benjamin Nance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; two brothers, Wayne & Wendell; and three sisters, Retta Statter, Jean Donley and Dorothy Halliwill.

Louis was born July 26, 1914, the son of LeRoy and Sadie (Mogel) Halliwill, in Salem, Iowa. He served with the United States Navy during World War II. On June 14, 1941, Louis was united in marriage to Hazel M. Neve. She died January 22, 1994. For 37 years, he worked as a machinist at Cedar Rapids Engineering and Kwik Way Manufacturing, retiring from Kwik Way in 1979. A Toddville resident for 58 years, Louis was a member of the Toddville American Legion, a member of the Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and a weather spotter.

Military honors will be conducted by the Toddville American Legion Post.
