Louis Herman Bell, 72, of Anamosa, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Michael Elmore. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Leando Cemetery in Douds, Iowa.
Survivors include his children, Niki (Chad) Kanneberg of Anamosa, Lori (Charles) Stocker of Bettendorf, Robert Tisor of Ottumwa, Tammy (Roger) Adkins of Bettendorf, April (Randy) Mason of Davenport, Cindy Ploog, Sally Schmidt, Sue (Kris) Heilmann; grandchildren, Eric, Lyndsey, Amy, Alisha, Brandon, Erin, Chloe, Sari, Aaron, Megan, Leah, Brad, Josh, Cody, Nick, and Jessica; 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and a sister, Luella Mae Bell.
Louis was born January 4, 1942, the son of Herman and Eleanora (Schipper) Bell in Fairbury, Nebraska. He graduated from High School in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended Moody Bible College. On December 7, 1971, he married Dorothy Louise Plowman in Rock Island, Illinois. She died October 22, 1998. Louis served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a surgical aid nurse at Fort Knox. He spent time Dairy Farming. Louis retired from 3M Tape Company where he worked as a machine operator.
Louis was a member of Anamosa Four Square Church. He volunteered as a chaplain for Amenity Hospice. Louis enjoyed Ford Tractors, gardening, crossword puzzles, garage sales, and collecting Rock Island Railroad memorabilia. He went out of his way to encourage and support others.
