Mary Louella Van Dyke, formerly of Mount Vernon and Marion, died at Hiawatha Care Center on October 12. She was 90 years old. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion by Pastor Tom Fogle. Visitation will be on hour prior to the service. Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, Illinois.

She is survived by her sons Jerry (Deb) Van Dyke of Marion and Aaron (Patti) Van Dyke of Bettendorf, grandchildren Kyle (Jen) Van Dyke, Katie (Jon) Damby, Daniel (Jennifer) Van Dyke, Megan Van Dyke, Lauren Van Dyke, and great grandchildren Sawyer, Ansley and Brooksley.

Louella was born in Sikeston, Missouri, on November 29, 1927, the daughter of Alonzo and Rosa Griffith. She was raised in rural southeast Missouri and graduated from Sikeston High School in 1945. Louella had four brothers and four sisters, all of whom preceded her in death. She married Henry G. Van Dyke of Morrison, Illinois, on July 15, 1950. The Van Dykes lived in Mount Vernon for most of their married lives where they raised their family. Henry died in April, 2005.

Louella was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a humble, kind and loving person. Louella was a long-time member of the Cedar Valley Bible Church in Cedar Rapids and was a dedicated servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Louella’s memory.
