Lorraine M. Schense

Lorraine M. Schense, of Central City, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will take place at Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Lorraine was born June 16, 1941, in Leola, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Annie (Heihn) Lapka. On February 14, 1958, in Leola, South Dakota, she was united in marriage to Bill Schense. Lorraine was a member of the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Central City. She was an avid movie fan. Lorraine enjoyed dancing with Bill, shopping with Billie, and traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Billie Lorie Ganzeveld (Todd Laird); son, Jeffery Alan (Deborah) Schense; five grandchildren, Greg Carpenter, Chrystal Carpenter, Jamie Carpenter, Mercede (Brandon) Propes, and Trevor Schense; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Alyssa, Liberty, Lydia, and Anna; sister, Charlotte Schaub; and several nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wendy Schense; sister, Phyllis Burhenn; brother-in-law, Arthur "Art" Schaub; and an infant brother.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Lorraine’s memory.
