Lorraine “Mickie” G. Weeter, 96, a resident of Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, passed away Thursday evening, March 15, 2018, at Mercy Hospital, following a brief illness. Visitation: 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, March 19, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Squaw Creek Baptist Church, Marion, officiated by Reverend James Perry and Reverend Andy Saul. Burial: Oakshade Cemetery, Marion.

Mickie was born June 29, 1921, in Nebraska, the daughter of Neil and Beulah (Hyatt) McGuire. She graduated from Thayer High School where she met the love of her life, Lowell L. Weeter, and they later married on July 19, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He passed away in 1989. Mickie attended Squaw Creek Baptist Church in Marion. She loved little kids, nature and animals, and was often seen riding her bike and taking long walks. Mickie was an avid gardener (at the urging of Lowell). She was known for her gentle, sweet, spirit. Mickie was also famous for the best fried chicken dinners in town, however, her greatest love of all was her time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Pete) Peterson of Marion, Jerry (Debra) Weeter of Denver, Colorado, Judith McAtee of Marion, Rickey (Renee) Weeter of Marion, and Randy (Debbie) Weeter of Pueblo, Colorado; grandchildren, Jim (Pam) Peterson of Ankeny, Scott (Jen) McAtee of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kelly (Lee) Palmer of Faribault, Minnesota, Kim Weeter of Boston, Massachusetts, Lisa (Richard) Davis of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Mandy (Spencer) Mathews of Pueblo, Colorado, Candice (Anthony) Milton of Houston, Texas, Brittany (Brian) Smith of Lakewood, Colorado, Shane Weeter of Cedar Rapids, Stacy (Griffen) Karr of North Liberty, Kelly (Bryce) Chapman of Mt. Vernon, and Brooke (Devon) Rascon of Lakewood, Colorado; 25 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Mickie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell Weeter; brother, Arnim, (Lila) McGuire; and infant granddaughter.

Memorials in Mickie’s memory may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association and the Squaw Creek Baptist Church in Marion.
