Lorraine McGrane, 87, of 313 South Tama Street, Manchester, Iowa, passed away June 2, 2003 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the home of her son, Jim McGrane, after a long illness.
A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Manchester, with the Rev. Ralph Simington officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 6 at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the church. Burial will be in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.
Ida Lorraine McGrane was born July 17, 1915 the daughter of Frank & Catherine (Coburn) Timp of Bluffton, Iowa. Lorraine attended school in Calmar. On April 28, 1936 she married Joseph Lawrence McGrane, Sr. in Bluffton. Joseph died December 27, 1978. The couple farmed near Cascade before moving to Manchester in 1951. They continued farming in the Bailey?s Ford area until 1965 when they moved to town. Lorraine then worked at the Plantation Inn & Supper Club as a waitress and housekeeper. She enjoyed gardening and knitting.
Lorraine is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph L. & Marian McGrane of Manchester, James & Rita McGrane of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Darlene & Bill Martin of Eagen, Minnesota, Patrick & Ruth McGrane, Elaine & Ken Schwarzhoff, Marilyn & Gary Smith all of Manchester, Rita & Robert Goebel of Worthington, Monica & Jim Heiserman of Delhi; thirty grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Regan of Cedar Rapids, Helen Kurash of Fort Atkinson and Shirley Rollinger of Woodbine, Il and one brother, Louis Timp of Galena Illinois.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Catherine Timp; her husband, Joseph; seven brothers, Edward, Charles, Francis, James, William Victor and Wayne Timp and one sister, Irene Hildebrand.
Our beloved Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma. We will miss your beautiful smile, sense of humor and laughter. Thank you for the memories. We all love you and will miss you forever.
