Lorraine Lode
June 16, 1931 — September 23, 2014
Lorraine Lode, 83, a resident of Bickford Cottage passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Private family burial at Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills, Iowa, at a later date.
Survivors include her children, Lisa (Orville) McInroy, Elaine (Leif) Tjensvoll, Karl (Lisa) Lode, Annette (Dale) Seaman, Eric (Penny) Lode; grandchildren, Brittney (Steven) Van Arsdale, Annika and Laila Tjensvoll, Dustin and Kelsey Lode, and Levi Lode. Great grandchildren, Mya and Steven Van Arsdale, and one on the way; sibling, Carmen (Allen) Livingston, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, Kaare Lode, grandson Derek Elliott; siblings Hazel and Gladys and brothers-in-law, Aldrich Zobach (Gladys), William Westermyer (Hazel).
Lorraine Nancy Favre was born 16 June 1931 in Ryan, Iowa as the youngest daughter of Swiss immigrants, Albert Charles Favre and Laura Marie (Buchs) who were from the western edge of Switzerland near the village of Le Loche. Lorraine grew up in Manchester Iowa and married Kaare Lode, a Norwegian immigrant after he returned from the Korean War in 1952. They rented a farm south of Jesup Iowa for nine years and then bought, farmed and improved the Walker estate, for 38 years. Lorraine named in her last wishes to include that she was blessed with a kind, loving, supporting husband and was very proud of her family with five children, their spouses, seven fine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In 2001 Kaare and Lorraine moved to their retirement home they built on Ridge Road near Anamosa. Her wishes for any memorial money or funds considered for flowers are rather given to Camp Courageous. Lorraine’s concern for her blue planet earth, interest in animals, astronomy, photography, going on trips, watching the sky, looking at rocks, talent in art, musical abilities, taking hikes anywhere in the great outdoors with her Kaare and the general well-being of all nature are living into the future by her offspring. They all cherish, share and are thankful for the enthusiasm Lorraine showed this wonderful world that she admired, loved and felt fortunate to enjoy and experience for her lifetime. Lorraine was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
