Loretta J. Wilcox, 83, a resident of Garnett Place in Cedar Rapids, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Per Loretta’s wishes, there will be no services. Inurnment will be in Michigan at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, Iowa.
Survivors include Gini (Kirk) Hayes of Central City, Marck (Melody) Wilcox of Vinton, and Duane (Ann) Wilcox of Toddville; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Stolba of Cedar Rapids, and a sister-in-law, Grace Herbert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Barbara Wilcox; and 5 siblings.
Loretta was born March 14, 1928, the daughter of William and Agatha (Lynott) Herbert in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from McKinley school in Cedar Rapids. Loretta married Ray A. Wilcox on September 20, 1951. He died October 17, 2008. She worked at Rockwell Collins until her retirement in 1985.
