Loretta M. Walton, 100, of Troy Mills, passed away December 26, 2007, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, where she has been a resident since 2003. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007, at Troy Mills Christian Church by Pastor Jamie Wolf. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point.
Survivors include her son, Keith (Yvonne) Walton; five grandchildren, Harold Walton, Jr., Lynne Ann Cassidy, Craig (Laura) Walton, Anita (Dick) Capp, and Becky McCauley; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan in 1974; a son, Harold in 1951 (Korean War); a granddaughter, Verna Lee West; two great-grandsons, Garret Craig Walton and Chad Sanders; and ten brothers and sisters.
Loretta was born November 18, 1907, to Joseph and Sara (Leigh) Hunter in Ramsey, Illinois. On October 29, 1927, she married Harlan Walton in Independence.
Loretta was a homemaker and one of the first female school bus drivers in Iowa. She was a long time member of Troy Mills Christian Church, Rebecca Lodge, and a Gold Star Mother of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Loretta loved her family and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, cooking and working in her yard with her many flowers.
