Loretta Mae Sampson, 71, of 4819 Ford Avenue NW, Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness. Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Green Glade Cemetery, Farmington.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gerald; a son, Wm. Wayne (Tami) Sampson of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Donald, James and Chelsea; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Jeanette) House of Burlington, Iowa, and Raymond "Freddie? House of Revere, Missouri; and a sister, Mary Jane (Roy) Roberts of Merced, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dolores and Leona; and a daughter, Diana Petsche.

Loretta was born June 5, 1932, the daughter of Wm. "Glen? and Lucille (Neves) House, in Farmington, Iowa. On September 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to Gerald Sampson in Montezuma, Iowa. A homemaker, Loretta spent many years as a youth counselor. She attended the Crosswinds United Methodist Church in Hiawatha. She was dearly loved and will be truly missed.
