Loretta L. Allen, 89, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, January 15, 2005 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness. Prayer Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 19 at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Wednesday. Private Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a special daughter-in-law, Carol Allen Pace of Florida; two grandchildren, Lee Allen of New York and Linda Miller of Texas; 5 great grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 4 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Darrell Allen, who died in infancy; and a son, Leo Allen.
Loretta was born on September 17, 1915 in Hampton, Iowa to Charles and Nancy (Morgan) Vincent. She graduated from Hampton High School and married Lyle C. Allen in 1932 in Peoria, Ill. Lyle died in August of 1970. Loretta worked at Rockwell-Collins for 29 years until her retirement.
