Lorenna "Renny? J. McKee Greif, 94, a resident of the Anamosa Care Center, formerly of Springville, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at the care center, following a brief illness. Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Springville Presbyterian Church by Rev. Barry Ensign-George. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Springville Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Larry McKee and wife Delores of Olathe, Kansas; her daughters, Pam Brown and husband Merlyn Jr. of Madison, Nebraska and Mary Jean Ulrich and husband Kent of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; nine step-children, Robert Greif, Teresa Hollingworth, Joseph Paul, Jeanette Freese, Earl Greif, Loras Greif, Fay Greif, Arnold Greif and Louis Greif; a brother, Aubrey McShane and wife Lorean of Central City; seven grandchildren, Sean McKee, Michael Graham, Shane McKee, Chris Ulrich, Michelle Luchner, Angie Martin and Nick Ulrich; eight great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; four brothers, Cecil Bennett, Howard McShane, Marion McShane and Orville McShane; and a sister, Maxine Skeels.
Renny was born on June 13, 1909, in rural Linn County, to Porter and Alma (Bolton) McShane. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College and taught 3rd grade at Springville Elementary School for many years. Renny first married John (Guy) McKee. He died June 23, 1967. She then married Emil Greif. He died October 11, 1987.
