Lorene Marie Young, 79, formerly of Earlville, died Sunday evening, January 15, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the Earlville United Parish in Earlville by Rev. Ross Wyman. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville and one hour before services Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Pine View Cemetery, Delaware.
Lorene was born April 22, 1926 in Fayette County, the daughter of John & Mary (Drier) Frahm. She attended country school near her home and worked as domestic help for area families. On June 12, 1944 Lorene was united in Marriage to Donald A. Young, Sr. The couple settled in Tripoli before moving to Earlville in 1957. Donald died March 24, 1992. Lorene moved to Manchester in 1993.
Lorene was a member of the Earlville United Parish and the Manchester V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, embroidering and collecting dolls.
Lorene is survived by four children, Mary (Bruce) Mangold of Manchester, Donald (Mary) Young, Jr. of Hillsville, VA, Connie (Ken) Harder of Manchester and Kristi (Gary) Kracke of Delaware; two step-daughters, Lois Gaede of Fredericksburg and Donna Manweiler of Sumner; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Art (Caroline) Frahm of Littleton; a sister-in-law, Pauline Frahm of Tripoli; and her step grand & great-grandchildren.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, John & Mary Frahm; husband Donald Young, Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen & Darwin Topping; a brother and sister, Wilbert Frahm and Mabel Frahm; two step-sons-in-law, Melvin Gaede & Harry Manweiler; and two step-grandchildren.
