Loren Clarence Windfield, 92, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Alburnett, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at The Views of Marion. The family will greet friends from 3 - 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Center Point, Iowa, where a Funeral Service will follow at 6 p.m. Certified Celebrant, Amy Hart, will officiate. Cremation will take place after the service. A Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date at Lafayette Cemetery in Alburnett.

Loren was born on October 4, 1931, in Worms, Nebraska, the son of Clarence Thomas and Hannah Margaret E. (Helzer) Windfield. He was a graduate of Alburnett High School and went on to serve honorably in the United States Army, of which he was a Postal Carrier in 1952 and part of the 103rd Infantry, having spent most of his service at Fort McCoy. On January 11, 1966, Loren was united in marriage to Barbara Elnora Lomholt in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the American Legion, Alburnett Diamond Club, Alburnett Historical Society, and the CB Club. To many, Loren was lovingly known as “Bud”. His lifelong passion was being a farmer and spending time with his family. Together, Loren and Barbara loved spending time at their cabin in Guttenberg, Iowa and wintering in Donna, Texas. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Loren is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Windfield of Marion; three children, Michael Windfield of Liscum, Iowa, Dan (Deb) Windfield of Alburnett, and Lisa Stick of Alburnett; five grandchildren, Heather Windfield, Danica (Justin) Polhamus, Dylan (Brea) Windfield, Codi (Jacob) Mineart, and Kayla Stick; seven great-grandchildren, Caleb Talley, Cooper and Wyatt Polhamus, Blake, Letty, and Henry Windfield, and Evren Mineart; sister, Ramona Young of Center Point, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Dave Brown of Huntsville, Alabama, and LeRoy Lomholt of Osage, Iowa; and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deanna Brown; best friend, Ronald Nielsen; and in-laws.
