Loren Lee Miller, 68, of 1212 Rose St. S.E., Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, November 12, 2006, in Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, following a battle with emphysema. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006, and from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana.
Survivors include two daughters, Laura (Shawn) VanDee and Linda (John Beving) Bailey; three sons, Loren, Jr. (Kris Keener), Matthew and Myron Miller, all of Cedar Rapids; former wife, Maggie Miller, of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Hanson, Eileen (Merle) Hepker and Bernita Troxel, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; his mother, Clarice; two brothers, Allen and Donald Miller; a son, Mitch; a granddaughter, Holly; a grandson, Mitchell; a great-grandson, Steven Hughes; and two brothers-in-law, Leo Hanson and Benny Troxel.
Loren was born October 16, 1938, the son of Arthur and Clarice (Graham) Miller, in Urbana, Iowa. A native of Urbana, he was united in marriage to his former wife, Margaret Lou (Olsen) Miller for 30 years, raising two daughters and three sons. For many years, Loren worked at the former Wilson Foods Meat Packing Company and then Farmstead Foods in the Baking Room until it?s closing in 1990. For the past 10 years, he was a truck driver for Jameson Trucking until he retired.
Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, going to dog trials and playing cards. He was a very loving father and grandfather who will be missed greatly by those who knew him.
