Loren Anthony "Louie" Frey
February 26, 1947 — January 31, 2014
Loren “Louie” Anthony Frey, 66, of Robins, died Friday, January 31, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Celebration of Life: 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by Pastor Rich Lacey. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life on Wednesday. Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Russell Cemetery, Decorah, with military honors by VFW Post 1977 and American Legion Post 163.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughter, Michelle (Eric) Kline; four granddaughters, Olivia, Ava, Ella, and Lexi; brothers, Darrell (Mavis) Frey of Decorah, and Mick (Diann) Frey of Decorah; sister-in-law, Beverly Full, and Marlys Larson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, James.
Louie was born February 26, 1947, in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Lester and Madeline (Stortz) Frey. He married Donna Larson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, on April 18, 1970. Louie was a supervisor at Cedar Rapids Inc. for 36 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #735 of Hiawatha. Louie enjoyed playing golf and euchre, and was an avid Packers and Hawkeyes fan. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and family.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Louie’s memory.
