Lonnie Layton Edwards, 24, of 647 Wapsi Bank Rd., died Tuesday, December 9, 2003, from a hit and run accident. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. William Harnish. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his father, Larry Edwards and wife Jolisa of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; his mother, Leila (Lee) Bower and husband Marvin of Bentonville, Arkansas; three sisters, Leah Edwards of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Lacey Edwards of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Callie Edwards of Bentonville, Arkansas; and his grandmother, Velma Nichols of Springdale, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by several grandparents.
Lonnie was born March 4, 1979, the son of Larry Edwards and Leila Nichols in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Lonnie worked as a merchandiser for Mid-Continent Bottlers. He enjoyed fishing, judo, hunting, camping and taking care of his animals. Lonnie was an avid Viking and Twins fan.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Lonnie.
