Lola Leary, 71, of 4111 Lark Court NE, died Saturday, September 4, 2004, at her home from cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha, by Father Neil Manternach. Family will greet friends from 3-8 p.m., Monday, September 6, 2004, at the church. Burial: St. John?s Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Dan; a son Dave and wife Mary of Dubuque; two daughters, Susan Malloy and husband Mike of Omaha, Nebraska and Lisa Lueninghoener and husband Pete of O?Neill, Nebraska; a brother, Terry Zabokrtsky and wife Donna of Walford; and eight grandchildren, Rob and Bridget Leary, Ben, Daniel and Patrick Malloy and Ian, Laura and Shea Lueninghoener.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Colin Malloy.
Lola was born February 9, 1933, in rural Norway, Iowa, the daughter of Milo and Cecilia (Schulte) Zabokrtsky. On November 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Dan Leary at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Fairfax. Lola was a chaplain for Hospice of Mercy for fourteen years. She was a long time Associate of the Sisters of Mercy and a volunteer at the Free Medical Clinic.
