Lois Arlene Fetterman (Fetterman)

Lois Arlene Fetterman, 98, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Inurnment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, near her parents, at a later date. Her funeral arrangements are being handled by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews and their families.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Blanche Lehr, Neva Stoneking, Ruby Caldwell and Myrle Cooper.
Lois was born September 16, 1908, the fifth daughter of Isaiah and Mary Farnham Fetterman in rural Linn County, Iowa. Her early schooling was in several rural school districts in Linn County. She graduated from Springville High School. After attending Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) for two years, she taught in the Linn County rural school system. Lois returned to Iowa State Teachers College to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Education degree. She earned a degree in Library Science from Denver University and a Master of Library Science degree from University of Southern California. Lois took additional college course work at the University of Iowa, University of Michigan and University of California, Los Angeles. She was employed in the Los Angeles Unified School District for many years until her retirement in 1972. After retiring, she returned to Cedar Rapids.
