Lois L. Clarke, 76, of Central City, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at her home from ALS symptoms. A Celebration of Life will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the United Church of Christ in Central City, Iowa, by Rev. Jonna Jensen. Friends may call Friday, September 21, 2007, from 4:30 ?" 6:30 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Clarke of 52 years; three sons, Steve (Roxanne) and their children, Laura and Steven Jr. of Central City; Jeff (Cathy) of Cedar Rapids and their daughter Brenda Welter of Central City, and Richard J. of Central City.

Other survivors include a brother, Terrance (Becky) Fox of Pensicola, Florida; two sisters, Helen (Ed) Kuba of Cedar Rapids, and Shirley Hadad of Trenton, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Ernest (Shirley) Clarke of Springville, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Beverly (Phil) Leipold, Davenport, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother-in-law, Richard Hadad.

Lois was born September 4, 1931, the daughter of Robert and Ruth (Goodrich) Fox in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She married Roger Clarke on May 28, 1955 in Cedar Rapids.

Always a volunteer, Lois was a Red Cross swim instructor and worked as an EMT for 24 years in Central City, Iowa. She was a member of the choir at the United Church of Christ in Central City and a member of the Monday Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Lois’ name to the United Church of Christ in Central City or the North East Linn Area Ambulance service.
