LoElla Jean Richter, 98, of Marion, formerly of Earlville, passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at Winslow House Care Center, Marion. Graveside Services 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Fairview Cemetery, Earlville with a lunch to follow at Earlville United Parish.

LoElla is survived by her children, Gerald “Rock” Richter, David (Pat) Richter, Jennifer Carlson and Lana Richter; grandchildren, Randy Richter, Kathy Jo Richter, Sara (Rob) Walstrom, Amanda Richter, Jessi (Ryan Dahlby) Richter, Katie (Kevin) Jolly, Jackie Nelson, Justin Carlson, Ryan Carlson and Candace Carlson; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Howard Lux; second husband, Harry Richter; brother, Charles Simons; sister, Virginia “Jinny” Downs; sons, Howard Lux Richter and Stephen Richter; and son-in-law, Rick Carlson.

LoElla was born August 29, 1918, the daughter of Oscar and Velma Simons. She attended Lennox College, Upper Iowa University, and University of Northern Iowa, formerly known as the Iowa Teacher’s College. On December 13, 1941, she married Harry Clarence Ricther in Kahoka, Missouri. He passed away on December 12, 1990. LoElla taught seventh grade in Greeley and then third grade in Earlville. She was a member of the Earlville United Parish, Daughters of American Revolution, Rebekah Lodge, and the Red Hat Society. LoElla enjoyed writing poems, playing games, and playing cards, especially, bridge.
