Lloyd John Recker

Lloyd J. Recker, 70, of Manchester, passed away Thursday morning, September 15, 2005 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester, with his nephews, Rev. Douglas Loecke as celebrant, assisted Rev. Ray Burkle. Friends may call from 2:30-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester where the rosary will be recited at 2:30 and a scripture service will begin at 7:30. Friends may also call after 10:30 on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
Lloyd was born December 29, 1934 on a farm south of Worthington, the son of Reynold and Margaret L. (Besler) Recker. He graduated from West Delaware High School in 1953. Lloyd honorably served as a medic in the United States Army from March 4, 1957 until March 3, 1959. On February 6, 1960, Lloyd was united in marriage to Marie T. Burkle at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Six children were born to this union. After returning from the service, Lloyd worked as a mechanic for Wendt & Lillibridge. In 1962, the couple bought a farm in rural Manchester.
Lloyd was a long-time member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Manchester. He will be remembered as a very caring and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Marie Recker of Manchester; three sons, Kevin Recker of Alabama, Bruce Recker of Waterloo and Kirk Recker of Manchester; three daughters, Michelle Recker of Earlville, Melissa (Mark) Becker of Manchester and Dawn (Tim) Boge of Coggon; seven grandchildren, Ashley Fitzpatrick, Brandon Becker, Katelyn Kendalyn & Karalyn Recker and Trevor & Macy Boge; two brothers, Dean (Jean) Recker of Manchester and Ronald Recker of Marion; one sister, Deanne (Dave) Loecke of Ryan; and a daughter-in-law, Pam Recker of Coggon.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Reynold & Margaret Recker; and a brother, Gary Recker in 1992.
