Lloyd H. Mobbs, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Father John Gossman. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. There will be no burial.
Survivors include his daughters, Carol Mobbs of Marion, Marybeth (Gene) Culbertson of Hiawatha, and Thelma Jo Farr of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Johnny, Ronnie, Lisa, Beth, and Jennifer; eight great-grandchildren; and a special friend, LoRee Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; one sister; and his son-in-law, John Farr.
Lloyd was born August 3, 1913, the son of James and Mary (Chastain) Mobbs in Arab, Alabama. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a superintendent for Skogman Homes.
Lloyd was an original member of Cherry Burrell Credit Union which is now called Dupaco Credit Union, a lifelong member of the Eagles Club, and a seventy year member of the carpenters union international.
Lloyd enjoyed playing cards, Cedar Rapids Kernels Games, casinos, politics, and he loved Cherry Pie.
A memorial fund has been established in Lloyd’s memory.
