Lloyd C. Koehler, 82 of 660 South 12th Street, of died Thursday, December 28, 2006, in his home, from congestive heart failure. Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at New Covenant Bible Church, 1800 46th Street N.E., Cedar Rapids, by Rev. James Wartian, with military honors. Inurnment will be at a later date at Davenport Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday, January 1, 2007, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Velma; his children, Kathy (Joe) Luense, of Cedar Rapids, Kerry Koehler of Coggon, Gary (Pat) Kleinmeyer of Lone Tree, Terry (Kathy) Kleinmeyer of Princeton, Minnesota, Larry (Linda Alford) Kleinmeyer of Iowa City, Jerry (Sue) Kleinmeyer of Toddville and Connie (Bob) Tomkins of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.
Lloyd was born the son of Charles and Edith (Sole) Koehler on September 8, 1924, in Michigan City, Indiana. Lloyd graduated from Davenport High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart, and then attended St. Ambrose College, where he helped form the golf team. On July 11, 1945 he married Betty Priester. She died April 15, 1978. He later married Velma I. Bowman Kleinmeyer on June 16, 1979 in Cedar Rapds.
Lloyd was past president of Davenport Chamber of Commerce and won top salesman awards with Glidden/Sherwin Williams Paint Company. Lloyd and Velma enjoyed golfing and fishing all over the country while traveling in their RV. He won the Quad City Amateur in the years 1948 and 1949.
Lloyd had a great sense of humor. Golf was his passion, but his family was his life.
