Lisa M. (Freeman) Steger, 43, of Delhi, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, February 22, 2006 at St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at St. John?s Catholic Church in Delhi by Rev. John Kremer. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester with a Scripture service at 8 p.m. and one hour before services Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. John?s Catholic Cemetery, Delhi.
Lisa was born December 11, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the daughter of Bruce G. & Janice I. (Lamphier) Freeman. She lived in Hawaii and Virginia before moving to Iowa in 1972. Lisa graduated from West Delaware High School in 1981. On June 12, 1982 Lisa was united in marriage to Douglas Steger at St. John?s Catholic Church in Delhi. The couple made their home east of Delhi, where Doug farms and is Maintenance and Transportation Coordinator for the Maquoketa Valley School District. Lisa provided in-home daycare, which she loved and very much enjoyed, up until the week before she passed away. She enjoyed camping with her family and attending the activities of her daughters through the years. Lisa enjoyed sports and even coached Little League for a few years.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Doug Steger of Delhi; three daughters, Jessica Steger (Chad Hillers) of Delhi, Amy Steger of Cedar Falls and Krista Steger, at home; her parents, Bruce & Janice Freeman of Manchester; a brother, Bruce Freeman, Jr. of Midwest City, OK; a niece, Caitlyn Freeman of Midwest City, OK; a nephew, Bruce Freeman III of Delaware; her in-laws, Wally & Betty Steger of Delhi; a brother-in-law, Terry (Joan) Steger of Earlville; two sisters-in-law, Jane (Steve) Bonert of Hopkinton and Diane (Mike) Sensibaugh of Glen Burnie, MD; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents; and a nephew, Cory Bonert.
A memorial fund will be established in Lisa?s name.
