Linda L. Waters (Sproston)

Linda L. Waters, 51, of Center Point, died Thursday, December 25, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Urbana, by the Rev. Dave Ambrosy. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, where a rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Burial: Urbana Cemetery, Urbana.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle; her children, Jeremy (Brandy) Waters, Jennifer (Cameron) Baeley, all of Cedar Rapids and Jessica Waters of Wichita, Kansas; three grandchildren, Noah and Hailey Waters and Sophia Baeley; her mother, Marie Sundberg; three sisters, Sue (Ray) Carman of Urbana, Peggy Sproston of Anamosa and Debbie (Ken) Wilson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two brothers, Steven Sproston of Creve Coeur, Illinois and Randy (Connie) Sproston of Lisbon; her mother-in-law, Theresa Waters of Osage; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Sproston; grandparents, Ed and Tillie Drahos and Harry and Hazel Sproston; father-in-law, Lloyd Waters; and a niece, Miranda Sproston.
Linda was born March 13, 1957, the daughter of Jim and Marie (Sundberg) Sproston, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On June 14, 1980, she was united in marriage to Lyle D. Waters. For the past 26 years, Linda worked at General Mills.
A giving and loving person, Linda would always put others first before herself. She was a devoted mother to her children and her grandchildren were the sparkle in her eyes. Linda loved to read, enjoyed gambling and loved to travel whenever possible. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Linda touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her.
