Linda L. Ryan, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2009, by St. Patrick’s Parish at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Phil Thompson. At Linda’s request her body will be cremated. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Linda is survived by her husband, James Ryan; daughter, Shaunette; mother, Mamie (Mickey) Lockhart; brothers, William (Sue) Lockhart and Tom (Lorraine) Lockhart, Jr.; special nephew, Bob (Susie) Lockhart, Blue and Scuzzie; special niece, Mickey Lockhart: sister and brother-in-law, Theresa and Richard Beall.
Linda also had many special friends she considered family, Ronnie and Diana Stigall, Matt and Millie and their family, Christina Stigall and her family, Johnny O’Conner and wife Tammy, Annette Santee, Roberta Sabel, Dennis and Tammy Cockheram, her two true dear friends Leo Johnson and Susie; and her beloved pets Madison and Baily.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved son, Monte Joe Ryan; father, Thomas Lockhart; sister, Clara Palda; grandfather, Angelo Numeric; and grandmother, Clara Lockhart.
Linda was born August 23, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Thomas and Mamie Lockhart. Linda and her husband James were self-employed owners of the Lucky Leprechaun and Angle Inn before moving to Davenport, Iowa, where Linda was district manager of several hundred commercial and residential properties for 20 years. Linda retired in 2001, and returned to Cedar Rapids, where she resided until her death.
Linda was best known for helping the poor, playing cards, traveling and enjoying time with her family.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital that took care of Linda.
