Linda Lee Kowalsky, 62, of 945 Grand Ave. Ct., went to be with the Lord. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. A private family memorial service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2007, by Rev. Dr. Kay Slocum. Burial will be at a later date in Traer.
Survivors include a son, Troy of Marion; three grandchildren, Ryan, Keegan, and Aaron and their mother, Brenda of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Sharon (Jim) Ripple of Vinton and Londa McAllister of Oelwein; a brother, Donald "Skip? (Julie) Hagge of Wahoo, Nebraska; eleven nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Michael Dillavou; and her faithful companion, Pip.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, FloAnn.
Linda was born October 18, 1944, the daughter of Donald LeMoine and Evelyn (Barge) Hagge Sr. in Maywood, California. She moved to Iowa and graduated from LaPorte City High School in 1962. Linda moved to Cedar Rapids in 1972 and worked as an assembly operator at Rockwell Collins until retiring in January of 2003. She served as a member of the executive board, vice president, and then was president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1362 until June of 2003. Linda was a board member of the Hawkeye Labor Council, and had served on the board of United Way of East Central Iowa. She participated in the Muscular Dystrophy Bowl-a-Thon, helped with the postal workers? food drive and volunteered to help women in need. Linda also volunteered at Lincoln Learning Center, helping adults learn to read.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids and a friend of Bill W.
Linda?s son Troy, three grandchildren, and her daughter-in-law were always the source of meaning in her life.
A memorial fund has been established for Linda?s grandchildren at Farmers State Bank, 1240 8th Ave., Marion, IA, 52302.
