Linda Kay Dempster (Beal)

Linda K. Dempster, 58, of Ely, died of cancer on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Randy Vartabedian. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Linda is survived by her husband, Derrell Dempster of Ely; three children, Chad (Darcy) Dempster of Cedar Falls, Rebecka (Brad) Holub of Cedar Rapids and Kristine (Dan) McNutt of Ankeny; eight grandchildren; her mother, Bonnie Beal of Albia; seven siblings, John Beal of Albia, Tom Beal of Ord, NE, Carolyn Ruhl of Melrose, Ron Beal of Moravia, Steve Beal of East Ellijay, GA, and Donna Regan and Sandy Beal, both of Hedrick.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Beal; and a step-son, Todd Dempster.
Linda was born July 20, 1949, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Donald H. and Bonnie J. (Kerr) Beal. On September 8, 1983, Linda was united in marriage to Derrell Dempster in Iowa City. She worked as a maintenance mechanic at General Mills since 1984. Linda enjoyed photography, skiing, the outdoors, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
