Linda was born on January 9, 1938, in Quasqueton, Iowa, to Arley and Vida (Chesmore) Daubenberger. On August 2, 1957, she was united in marriage to Alfred Duane Stark at Quasqueton Union Church. She grew up on the family farm with her brother, Daryl. She spent her youth enjoying the farm life – picking raspberries, playing in the creek, mushroom hunting, and helping her mom in many ways. Linda participated in several activities in high school, playing the piano and marimba. She treasured the time she played for her cousins, Lowell and Agnes Walter at the Frank Lloyd Wright house at Cedar Rock Park. Linda also played basketball. A highlight of high school was being crowned homecoming queen.
After marrying Duane (Alfie), the couple lived in Center Point. Linda was active in Center Point United Methodist Church. She left her secretarial position at Rockwell Collins to raise her two sons, Randy and Rodney. She returned to work when the boys were older to transport students with special needs for the Center Point School District. Her kindness blessed each child. She added to her school duties becoming the activities and lunch clerk, and retired after 25 years of service.
Linda had many friends whom she shared time with, Bible study, efforts at the church, and just time together. Duane and Linda spent much of their married life involved in a card club. This club not just played cards but traveled, had boisterous parties, and camped together. She was also very proud of her beautiful garden which included her prized double knock-out roses.
The most beloved part of her life were her boys, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings, big holiday dinners or grilling on the patio were so important to her. She loved to feed those she cared for. The conversations with Linda were full of joy, guidance, patience, and laughter. She taught through her actions. She loved beyond words, served without complaint, gave without hesitation, and was loyal through all of life’s journeys. Those left to miss her will do so everyday, but we will live knowing we were all loved by this most beautiful woman.
Survivors include her husband, Duane Stark; children, Randy (Tami) Stark of Center Point, and Rodney (Susie) Stark of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Joe (Lindsey) Stark, Jamie (Steven) Kelly, Samantha Stark, Chelsea (Jared) Gienger, and Robin Stark; and great-grandchildren, Aiden and Liam Stark, Jordyn Kelly, Addelyn Stark, and Oliver Gienger.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arley and Vida Daubenberger, her brother Daryl and many other beloved family members and friends.
