Lily M. Phillips, 75, of 1040 10th Street SW, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, December 1, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Sam (Ruby) Smothers of Sheridan, Arkansas, Dottie (Tim) Tracy of Ankeny, Iowa, Sue (Steve) Rouse of Elberon, Iowa, and Michael (Susan) Smothers of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, John White of Mississippi; and four sisters, Mary Pelts, of Batesville, Mississippi, Shirley (Weston) McCoy, of Smithville, Mississippi, Doris Kaski of Kissimmee, Florida, and Dixie (Ron) Davison, Winter Springs, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Donald, Jack and George; two sisters, Jane and Ruby; a son, Robert Smothers; and a grandson, Sammy.
Lily was born September 14, 1931, the daughter of George and Tishie (Smith) White in Harrisburg, Arkansas. For 35 years, she worked as a short order cook, most recently at Chuck and Dales. Lily enjoyed playing bingo, quilting, cooking and canning.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Lily.
