Lillian “Opal” Irma (Lane) Bartlett, 90, formerly of Manchester, died Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the Garden Gate Residence, Cincinnati, OH.
Graveside services will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October, 10, 2009 at the Oakland Cemetery in Manchester. Family will greet friends from10:00 p.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, Iowa.
Lillian was born on October 11, 1918, Saskatoon, Saskatchwan, Canada, the daughter of Irl Ray and Irma (Packard) Lane. Her parents moved to Canada from Masonville in 1913 and returned to Manchester in 1925. She attended Manchester Elementary and graduated from Manchester High School in May 1937. Following graduation, Lillian worked for Kraft Cheese Corp. in Chicago as a bonded messenger. She also worked in many restaurants as a cashier and waitress. Lillian was united in marriage to Richard O. Bartlett on December 5, 1951 in Kingman, AZ. They later divorced.
Lillian enjoyed reading, doing crafts, sewing and handworks.
Lillian is survived by four nephews, Gary Lane of Algona, Coy and Terry Lane of FL, and Gary Merrill of Indiana; two nieces, Gloria Wiebusch of Rochester, MN, and Marcelene Winistorfer of FL; great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Irl and Irma Lane; husbands, George Dichtelmiller, Lyle Gravitt, and Richard Bartlett; two brothers, Beecher and Bernard Lane; two sisters, Alice Gilmore and Marion Smith; and a niece, Delores Pentecost.
