Lillian T. Novotny, 83, of Central City, IA, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 30, 2003. She passed on at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following complications from hip surgery. A memorial service will be held at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 511 Main Street, Central City, Iowa, on Friday, December 5, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Steve Russell will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour before the service and will also be available after the service at Jordan?s Grove Baptist Church, Burnett Station Road, southeast of Central City.

Per Lillian?s request her remains will be cremated, with a private family committal at Sutliff Cemetery.

Lillian was born July 1, 1920, in rural Republic County, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Sterba) Kasper. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and sisters, and her husband, Albert J. Novotny. Survivors include her son, Joseph J. Novotny and wife Judi K. (Travis) Novotny of rural Central City; two grandsons, Michael A. Novotny of Des Moines, Iowa, and Daniel A. Novotny of rural Central City; and two sisters, Blanch Kasper of Clyde, Kansas, and Olie Rytych of Belleville, Kansas.

Lillian was united in marriage to Albert on January 10, 1945. They lived in Center Point, Iowa, for approximately two years before moving to Solon, Iowa, then later moved to an acreage five miles east of Solon.

Lillian enjoyed her grandsons, family gatherings, cooking, gardening, fishing, mushroom hunting, cats and Czech music. She will be missed but will remain in our hearts until we see her again.
