Lillian B. Mangold, 87, of 526 East Linn Street, Coggon, died peacefully at home Wednesday, June 17, 2009, surrounded by her loving family following a long illness. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Zion Prebyterian Church in Coggon by Rev. Kurt Walker. The family will greet friends 4-8 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Coggon.
Survivors include her three sons, Gaylord (Mary Ann) Mangold of Orange Park, Florida, Myron Mangold of Coggon, and Rick Mangold of Coggon; one grandson, Kevin Mangold; two brothers, Carl (Betty) Baumann of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Harry (Barbara) Baumann of Monticello; and one sister, Maxine Konnath of Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Loren.
Lillian was born June 30, 1921, in Ryan, Iowa, to Alfred and Louise (Glauser) Baumann. On July 1, 1940, she married Loren E. Mangold in Waverly. He died August 23, 2003. Lillian and Loren farmed in the Coggon area for many years. She was a charter member of the Merry Makers Club, and was an avid reader who loved visiting with everyone. Lillian was a very loving and caring person. She was always willing to help people in any way they needed. She touched many lives in many ways and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
