Lillian Carol Hoyum, 89, November 13, 1922, to Sunday, September 16, 2012, died at St. Luke’s Hospice, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Luncheon will be served at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran School Lunch room, 1361 7th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, following the graveside service.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice (Jim) Felthous of Ashippun, Wisconsin and Phyllis (Richard) Nace of Grimes, Iowa; Carol (Robert) Foss of Clearwater, Minnesota; two sons, Edward (Sue) of Cedar Rapids, and Jerry (Lynette) of Tremont, Illinois; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Arlene Jacobson of Minneapolis Minnesota, and a brother, Laverne Swiggum of Gays Mills, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; parents; her sister, Ona Mae Dregne; brother, Robert Swiggum; son, Dale; grandson, Nicolas Felthous; great-granddaughter, Juliana Felthous.
Lived for the past year at Higley Mansion Care Center. Lillian is the daughter of M.C. and Mable (Johnson) Swiggum November 13, 1922 in Crawford County, Wisconsin. She was united in marriage to Norman Hoyum on June 3, 1944. Lillian was a teacher in a one room school house for 2 years in Wisconsin. A full time Homemaker to 6 children. She worked in the bookkeeping department at the Moore Business Forms in Iowa City. She enjoyed square dancing with Norman for 15 years, fellowship with family and friends. Lillian was an active member at Trinity Lutheran since 1965, when they moved from Oxford, Iowa. Known as the cookie lady to family, friends, neighbors, and church functions.
