Lillian Pelisek Horak, 86, a resident of Solon Nursing Care Center, Solon, formerly of rural Cedar Rapids, died, Sunday, October 28, 2007, at the care center of age-related causes. Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Heather Hayes. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her two sons, Richard (Janice) Horak of rural Swisher and Donald (Barb) Horak of rural Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Nicholas Horak of Minneapolis and James Horak of Coralville; a sister, Blanche Krizek of Loveland, Colorado; and two brothers, Joseph Pelisek of Lincoln, Nebraska and Fred Pelisek of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester G.; a grandson, Daniel Horak in 2000; and a brother, George Pelisek.

Lillian was born March 15, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Kubalek) Pelisek in Clutier, Iowa. Lillian’s family moved to Cedar Rapids where she attended Rosedale School and was a member of 4-H. On October 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lester G. Horak at the First Presbyterian Church near Ely, Iowa. He died February 2, 1992. Lester and Lillian farmed for 50 years south of Cedar Rapids and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico after retirement. Her hobbies were flower gardening and sewing. She was a member of the Friendship Club in Ely.
